Donald Trump and US secretary of state Marco Rubio attended a UFC event in Miami on Saturday night, even as peace talks with Iran collapsed on the other side of the world.
The president entered the Kaseya Center shortly after 9pm, arriving with several members of his family and UFC chief Dana White. White has been a supporter of Trump since his first term and has remained one of the president’s most visible allies in the mixed martial arts world.
Trump has long been known as a fan of mixed martial arts, and his appearance at the event fit a pattern of public interest in the sport that has extended across years. The Miami crowd also included a number of familiar names seated nearby.
Rubio was among those in attendance, along with US ambassador to India Sergio Gor, rapper Vanilla Ice and former FBI deputy director Dan Bongino. Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump Jr were also at the event.
The gathering brought together political figures, entertainment personalities and UFC insiders in a high-profile setting at the Kaseya Center. Trump’s attendance came while international attention remained focused on the breakdown of negotiations with Iran, underscoring the contrast between the evening’s sports spectacle and the diplomatic setback abroad.
The event was another example of the president’s visible connection to UFC and mixed martial arts, a relationship that has continued to draw attention whenever he appears ringside. With White nearby and several prominent allies in attendance, the Miami outing placed Trump once again at the center of a major sporting occasion.
