The Illuminating Tarot

Tarot is divided into two sections within each deck. The first is the Major Arcana, and the second is the Minor Arcana. The Major Arcana depicts the larger themes we experience in our lives. The Minor Arcana depicts the everyday experiences we have. Tarot contains the good and the bad, the light and the dark, the positive and the negative. Having all elements of life within the deck allows you to accurately paint the energetic picture of a situation. We live in duality, and sometimes life is wonderful, but sometimes it’s painful. One of the best components of tarot is that it contains glimpses of hope, encouragement, and compassion during times where it may desperately be needed.

One of the most positive cards within the tarot is The Sun. This card depicts a child riding a white horse. The child is smiling with joy in their eyes wearing a flower crown. Behind them is a wall decorated in giant sunflowers. A giant sun hangs high in the blue sky, pouring it’s light over the child and the earth. When The Sun appears in a reading, it’s always positive, regardless of if it’s upright or reversed. The meaning always remains joyful and light. Sometimes this card will appear while someone is going through dark times, indicating that brighter days are ahead. This card also symbolizes something within your life that causes you to feel joy and happiness. When it appears, you may wish to evaluate what brings you joy in your life and try to spend time doing these things as often as possible.

This Sunflower Ring from Story Jewellery is a beautiful sunflower, in either gold or silver. This ring’s message is “To my daughter, I wouldn’t change you for the world, but I wish I could change the world for you. Always be yourself. You are my sunshine.” Just as The Sun card, this ring symbolizes the joy and light mothers have for their daughters.

Tarot’s journey starts with the Fool. The Fool is numbered “0” because the energy of the card is of fresh starts, hope, and embarking on a journey. This card depicts a man with his head towards the sunny sky. He holds his belongings on his back and has a dog waiting at his side. The man also holds a flower as he walks seemingly with his head in the clouds. Because he is looking up towards the sky, he is unaware that he approaches the edge of a cliff. This cliff symbolizes the challenges and changes that he will experience on his journey. This card is lighthearted and showcases how it feels to start a new project or have a creative idea. In the initial stages it may feel like you can move mountains. This energy is powerful, and if you can manage to maintain it throughout the entirety of a project or creative endeavors—it’s certain that you will find success. The Mountain Ring from Story Jewellery showcases a stylish mountain over double bands. The message of this ring is “Faith moves mountains. Let this ring be a reminder that nothing will be impossible for you. Be blessed, be beautiful, be you.” The Fool portrays a similar message to remain hopeful and allow yourself to stay focused on all the wonderful possibilities.
