The second round of Championship fixtures began on Friday with live updates from around the county grounds, including Essex v Somerset, Surrey v Leicestershire and other matches across the competition.
At Old Trafford, the early stages were briefly disrupted by a frozen television in the press box, but the cricket soon provided a couple of immediate talking points. Luke Wells was well caught at third slip, diving to his left, off Ben Aitchison for four. That wicket brought Josh Bohannon to the crease for his 100th first-class match.
There was also an early setback for Haseeb Hameed, who had the rest of the day to reflect on the delivery from Timm van der Gugten that removed him first ball. In bright sunshine, Hameed attempted to work the ball into the leg side, but instead lost his leg stump and was sent back without scoring.
The day one action came as teams settled into the second round of the Championship season, with live coverage tracking events across the fixtures as they unfolded.
More updates were expected throughout the day as the opening exchanges continued at grounds around the country.
