A man has been charged with the murder of his university housemate after a fatal stabbing at a shared property in Bristol last week.
The accused, Zack Coughlan, is alleged to have killed fellow student Jamie Collins, who was found dead at the home they shared in Filton. Collins, who was 21, studied robotics at the University of the West of England.
According to the source report, Collins was discovered in the rear garden of the property in the early hours of 9 April. He had “a number of stab wounds”.
The case has brought attention to the circumstances surrounding the students’ shared accommodation in Filton, an area in the north of Bristol. The details released so far are limited, but the central allegation is that Collins was stabbed to death at the house share where both men lived.
Police and court proceedings are expected to continue as the case moves forward. At this stage, the available information identifies Coughlan as the person charged and Collins as the victim.
Collins’ death comes as a shock to the university community and the wider Bristol area, where he was studying for a degree in robotics. The report does not provide further details about the relationship between the two students, the events leading up to the killing, or any court outcome.
The case remains under legal scrutiny following the charge, with more information likely to emerge through the court process.
