Scottish Premiership: Rangers hit Falkirk for six to stay in title race

Rangers kept their Scottish Premiership title challenge alive with a remarkable 6-3 victory at Falkirk, recovering from a 2-0 deficit in a match that swung sharply after the interval.

Danny Röhl’s side were second best in a chaotic first half and fell behind to goals from Ben Broggio and Finn Yeats. For long spells, Rangers looked vulnerable and out of rhythm, while Falkirk took full advantage of the visitors’ defensive uncertainty.

Just before half-time, however, Tochi Chukwuani pulled one back for Rangers with a goal that proved controversial, but crucial. It gave the visitors a foothold and changed the mood going into the break.

Rapid response after the interval

The game turned decisively in Rangers’ favour early in the second half. Three goals arrived in the space of 11 minutes, transforming the contest and putting Falkirk under heavy pressure.

Youssef Chermiti levelled the scores before Nicolas Raskin sent Rangers ahead. Bojan Miovski then added the visitors’ fourth as Rangers completed a swift and ruthless turnaround.

From there, Rangers pushed on to finish the job and secure a high-scoring win that kept pace with the rest of the title contenders. The result meant Röhl’s team stayed in step with Hearts and Celtic after a weekend in which both rivals also collected points.

Elsewhere in the Scottish Premiership

On Saturday, Hearts defeated Motherwell 3-1, while Celtic beat St Mirren 1-0. Those results kept the pressure on Rangers, making the win at Falkirk particularly important in the broader title picture.

The final scoreline reflected the volatility of a match that began badly for Rangers but ended in emphatic fashion. After conceding twice in the first half, they responded with pace, intent and finishing quality after the restart.

For Falkirk, it was a frustrating afternoon after a promising opening. For Rangers, it was a reminder that even when their performance is far from settled, they still have the firepower to recover quickly and turn a game around.
