Dolce & Gabbana says co-founder Stefano Gabbana quit as chair at start of year

Dolce & Gabbana has said co-founder Stefano Gabbana left his role as chair of the fashion house at the start of this year.

The Italian luxury brand said Gabbana tendered his resignation, effective from 1 January, describing the move as “part of a natural evolution of its organisational structure and governance”.

Gabbana founded the company with Domenico Dolce, his then partner, and has long been one of the key figures associated with the brand’s identity and direction.

The announcement comes as Gabbana is said to be considering options for his 40% stake in the business ahead of talks with lenders.

No further details were provided in the statement about his departure or the company’s future leadership arrangements.

Dolce & Gabbana remains one of Italy’s best-known luxury labels, with the pair’s names closely tied to the brand since its founding.
